There was a time when we could only use a master password to unlock our Java based handset. Today, even the cheapest smartphones can use third party security applications like AppLock, Smartlock to set a password on their phone and keep them protected from evil hands. But, can they be trusted?
I receive hundreds of text and mails from people who ask me how to access the applications in phones if they are password protected. Here, you can know the answer. I used to do this thing when I was a noob.
This article doesn't teach you how to crack or reverse-engineer any application. It just shows a simple trick which can be used to bypass the third party security applications. It is for education purposes only. Don't use the methods below to cause harm to someone or for illegal purposes.
These apps have the permissions to open a page (locker page) when we open a protected app which can only be closed only if we enter the password correctly.
We can't even uninstall them if the user has added them to device managers' list in settings.
SOLUTION
These apps can just set a password on the selected apps. The trick is to downlaod alternative apps which can access the same things the original app does.
Like, if someone has locked Gallery, use can download any other alternative photo viewer application and all photos will be unlocked.
For accessing the File System, download any file managing application like ES File Explorer.
Same can be done with other Multimedia apps.
I'm mentioning some applications with links which can be found in The Play Store:
Gallery : QuickPic Gallery, Gallery KK
File managers : ES File Explorer
Audios : Default Music Player
Videos : ALLPlayer
Plus, if you just wanna have a glance of the phone's contents, there's no need to download anything. Just use any file attaching app like Facebook, Instagram and attach any photo, video, audio and you can see the thumbnails or music list easily.
